Barkeep, Another Drink Please
Much like Keen I was contemplating the value of purchasing the Limited Edition copy of Age of Conan versus the regular version. Here’s what you get with the Limited Edition.
Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures - Limited Edition includes:
- In game items: Ring of Acheron gives the player higher XP points & Drinking Cape gives free drinks in all of Hyboria’s taverns.
- Leatherette map of Hyboria.
- 124 page Art book.
- Game on 2 DVD’s.
- Full colour 72 page manual.
- Exclusive DVD with bonus material, trailers, interview and “making of” Exclusive soundtrack CD
- Buddy card (for 5 friends).
- 30 days free play.
- Limited Edition Packaging.
The regular copy sells here (Sydney Australia) for $79 while the LE goes for $109 (yeah, WTF). Now there’s not really anything in the LE that I really want. They’re all nice to haves but hardly worth the extra $30 in my opinion. My sister, on the other hand, has pre-ordered the LE (yes, girls play MMOs too). And her biggest selling point, of all things, was the drinking cape. She insisted I buy the LE so that we could both go to the taverns and have free drinks. I wonder if she realizes they’re not REAL drinks. But hey, who can turn down free drinks.
So I pre-ordered the Limited Edition copy on the weekend. EB Games were offering the Mammoth as part of their pre-order deal while GAME had the Rhino. Both my sister and I wanted the mammoth but EB Games had sold out of the LE so it was either get the regular one or go to GAME, grab a LE, and settle for a rhino.
So that’s what I did. I have one LE on pre-order and I’m warming to the rhino. Now that I’ve committed to AoC I’m starting to get excited. See you all in Hyboria, just look for two drunken barbarians loitering in the taverns.

Right on man, that’s what I went with too, the war rhino. I was wanting to get the mammoth until I figured out it was probably going to be the slowest mount in the game. I figure I can get a horse later to get around really fast but when it comes to combat I want speed, maneuverability and power - hence, rhino!
I also picked up the collector’s edition: http://gamezig.com/mmo/age-of-conan-collectors-edition

Bildo, read your review, loved it, even though I think you might be a little biased *pokes fun*.
GameZig, I thought the same thing. While I wanted the mammoth initially the rhino is faster, and since I plan on playing a support class vs a tank or rogue, I figured being able to run away might help more. I guess I’ll find out when I get my rhino. BTW, added you to my blogroll ![]()

Why would I be biased?
*whistles inconspicuously*
Seriously though, I only started working for TTH’s AoC site after I’d already gotten pumped about Hyboria. Though it certainly helps my mood about the game that I’m so close to it. ![]()
