Unleash the dogs of WAAGH!

21 October, 2008 (01:32) | All, Warhammer

The Black Blood Pact is an alliance of roleplay guilds on the Phoenix Throne server.  Currently there are five guilds in the pact, including our own.  The purpose of the Pact is to “enhance RvR through roleplay”.  Being in an alliance gives you access to an alliance chat, which is quite obviously a chat that allies, and only allies, can use.  One negative, or positive, of the chat is that all allies can see it, but only leaders can chat in it unless they promote members of the guild to a higher alliance rank, allowing them to chat.  Our guild has around 60 members in it now so I would have to individually promote each member.  The Pact has decided that the chat will only be used by leaders, officers, and VIP’s, for the sole purpose of organising RvR.

I was in a party with six of my guildmates and we were doing scenarios when the cry came out from our allies that one of our Tier 2 keeps was under assault from a warband of Order.  I gatherered some more guildies and 10 of us headed off to the defence of our keep.  More heeded the call and before long we had a full warband.  We easily defended our keep and were on such a high that we went on a rampage.  We headed to Spite’s Reach with a full warband and then some.  A magnificent battle ensued and with many falling from both sides, but eventually, with one last mighty push, we were victorious.

It’s my first successful keep assault.  I’ve been to a lot of failed attempts, and I’ve been to my fair share of failed defences also.  I think the difference here was a) a warband comprising 10 of our guild and b) a warband made up of allies.  Also the use of Vent.  While we only had three members on Vent, two of us were healers and just to be able to coordinate heals and rezzes was enough to keep people in the fight and the battle progressing.  We ended up zerging the whole Tier and ran out of things to take.  And man was it fun.

Awesome! Warbands rock when they get rolling ;)

I too had my first successful keep siege not that long ago. Now that I’ve had a taste, it’s going to be hard to do anything else.

It really is satisfying when you can get a 24 people of the same mindset working together like that. And the element of the unknown and the changing dynamic of RvR just makes it such a buzz. And when you finally have victory …. ahhhh.

*maniacal laughter*

I never thought I’d become an RvR addict but yet…here I am. There’s something so unique and satisfying about working as a group to overcome another group of real, live players–and also to see the results through earning renown, watching your guild advance and seeing your realm grow stronger. I’ve still got a lot to learn, but it’s certainly a fun dynamic of gaming I’d not really spent much time with up to this point. I’ll confess, I really, really like it.
