Level 60 and a meeting with Conan
Well I’d made it to level 60 (61 actually) which was the short term goal I’d set myself before deciding whether or not to continue with Age of Conan or whether to return to Vanguard in a greater capacity. I shall continue with AoC, mostly because I don’t want to leave my guild-mates there and I don’t want to make my sister angry; you wouldn’t like her when she’s angry. I’m also getting an extensive friend’s list going and am starting to get regular /tells to join groups.
So level 60, what does that mean? Firstly, and I found this odd, you can’t ride the level 60 mount. You need to purchase the level 80 advanced riding skill first, which means you have to be level 80. So once you buy the riding skill for 150 gold (ZOMGWTF) you can then buy a level 60 horse for an additional 50 gold. Or you can buy the level 80 mount, seeing as how you are already level 80, for another 150 gold. Expensive stuff. So I’m still riding around on my level 40 horse and it looks like it’s going to have to do me until 80.
I’ve also finished the last part of the Destiny Quest, the main storyline about your character, the whole slave thing, Mark of Acheron and all that. The Destiny Quest wasn’t too bad; it was certainly a better quest-line than a lot of the other quests I’ve done. I won’t spoil it for those that might not have done it yet, but it had a really cool bit, which was followed up by a really lame bit, at least in my opinion. Then I got to go and see good old King Conan who thanked me immensely, offered me a place in his Royal Guard if I would only swear fealty to him and do a couple of quick tasks. I swore my oath to uphold all things good and Aquilonian and then headed off to save the world; again. The biggest bonus was my character finally lost that stupid Mark of Acheron that was tattooed on his chest.
And, not for the first time, I wondered why no one ever noticed that I was Stygian, a priest of Set no less, and couldn’t give two hoots about Aquilonia, Conan, or whether the Vanir are raping and pillaging through Cimmeria. And that’s one aspect of the Destiny Quest that I didn’t like. Personally I was kinda rooting for Thoth-Amon, the villain, throughout the whole quest. I mean, we’re both Stygian, both worship Set, and what the hell, I could handle ruling Hyboria myself. But it isn’t to be. Perhaps somewhere down the track we might get to see Luxur, the Stygian capital and home of the King, and we can give our oaths to that guy instead. Faction grinds Funcom? Some unique items perhaps? Hmm, I won’t hold my breath.

His sister would definately kick his bottom, if she had more time *grins*
I look forward to doing the rest of my destiny quest, although I have to agree with you on the race thing. I was confused about why no-one seemed to care I was Stygian too, lol.
