MMO Gamers

Well finally I’m back home after a week interstate on a work related course.  I managed to make it back in time (just) to head down to the store and pick up my pre-ordered copy of Age of Conan - Limited Edition.  The salesperson, who I’ll call Ben, brings out my copy and places it on the desk.  I’m surprised at how big a box it is.  This is my first mistake, I’m overawed by the box.  Ben and another guy who’s there to collect his copy of AoC are discussing the game.  I’m joining in the conversation and we’re all excited and can’t wait to install the game.  Mistake number two on my part.

Now I’ve had enough bad experiences with stores and I’m dubious about my pre-order key; where is it?  I ask the Ben if there’s a pre-order key to collect my mount or some other means.  He’s surprised that I haven’t been given a pre-order key yet and goes out the back to get one.  He returns with my pre-order key and all is well.  I’m pleased with myself for being so clever.  Mistake number three.

So I’m driving recklessly through the traffic in order to get home and install AoC.  I arrive, boot up, and unwrap my LE box.  “Wow” I think when I see the art book, ”bigger than I expected”.  Next is the leather map, smelling more of fresh paint then leather.  Then it’s time for the disks.  I pull out the replica book that contains my game disks, bonus dvd, and soundtrack.  I open it up and WHAM!  Empty.  WTF YOU GODDAM @#%!#.  I search frantically for some disks but I know they’re not there. 

Normally I would have checked to make sure I had the disks and the keys and whatever else I need.  But I was so keen to get home and start installing that I forgot myself.  So now I’ll have to return to the store tomorrow and get the disks.  And to add to my misery, the day before I got a parking ticket.

Sometimes life really sucks.
