The Quest For A Unicorn
As I mentioned in a previous post I’d decided to start my Unicorn Quest. It’s a long quest line with 8 stages, all comprising anywhere from 4 to 8 quests per stage. I have nearly completed stage 3 and I don’t know if I can go on. I was holding off on buying a level 30 horse, hoping to get a unicorn, but I decided to pay 10 gold for a horse now anyway. The amount of time I’ve spent on this quest I could have used to earn the gold. Some highlights …..
After travelling from the continent of Thestra to Qalia to meet another unicorn I was sent to a nearby area to cull some evil guys. No problems there, pretty standard fare. After meeting the unicorn’s requirement I had to go to Kojan, another continent, to find two other unicorns. So I ride my horse for ages to the nearest riftway and port to Kojan. Kojan is an archipelago and there’s no riftway to the two islands I need to get to. Now I’m a bit of a Vanguard noob, so I don’t know where to hire a flying mount, so I head to the capital Tanvu to try my luck. No joy there, so I decide to swim. For ages.
I’m pretty frustrated and angry at the developers at this stage and I decide after completing this quest I’ll try to find a group and do some levelling. I find the unicorns and use my recall to get back to Threstra, rift back to Qalia (thank god for the new riftway system) and take the long ride back to the unicorn to complete the quest.
So now he wants me to meet another unicorn and I decide I may as well since it’s on the same continent, albeit all the way on the other side. I meet this new unicorn and she wants me to kill 55 Skrillien (lizard men things). Now this kind of grind I don’t mind so much. I would rather spend an hour killing 55 Skrillien then an hour swimming. When I get to the location I’m a little worried at first because there’s a 44 Pally clearing out mobs. But he doesn’t stay long and I set myself to the task of killing Skrillien. Once done I return to the npc with the good news and she asks me to kill 37 snapping turtles. It’s not too far and I get the added bonus of skinning the turtles, increasing my harvesting at the same time.
On completion I turn in the quest and she asks me to feed 15 of the foals in her herd. She gives me a bag of beans and I go about feeding foals. Not as easy as you think. I have to stand just in the right spot in front of the foal and quite a few of them are roaming, so I have to wait until they stop, and you can’t feed the same foal twice. I’ve spent the last two nights and about 3-4 hours trying to feed these foals and I can’t seem to find the last one. So I’ve been riding around clicking on foals only to be informed that I’ve already fed that one. I was so frustrated I sent in a bug report in case there actually isn’t a 15th foal. I will have to wait and see what the response is.
I still want my unicorn but I don’t know if I can keep it up. I guess I’m more a socialiser than an achiever personality.

I definately got that one
… in fact, I thought if I logged out for a few days it’d refresh. Alas, no joy for me. I still want the unicorn dammit.
Thanks for the offer Gyw, I’ll definately hit you up if I need to.

I hate to ask this but…Did you feed the one at the NPC that gives the quest? He is right in front of you and somehow I still missed him. LOL.
If you need some help, I can drop by. That was a painful step for me too. The other ones that are easy to miss are down by the shoreline. Anywho..hit me up and if nothing else we can get another set of eyes in the field.
