Weekly wrap up
Rather than doing a lot of little blogs I thought I’d wrap it all up in one subject. Champions Online have their website up and it looks good. You can never have too many MMOs to choose from. Bildo goes into some detail over here.
Ubisoft, the developers of the Heroes of Might and Magic franchise announced that their next foray into the HOMM universe will be a browser based MMO. Meanwhile developers Auran, whose MMORPG Fury has failed to find an audience, have closed their doors. Auran made a name for themselves when they released Dark Reign in ‘97 and had follow up success with their Trainz franchise. Auran’s CEO Tony Hilliam has stated that “a small but dedicated team” will continue to work on making Fury a success.
Competing in what’s now becoming the crowded children’s market we have Hello Kitty Online. Well over 40,000 have signed up for the beta so far and this could be the next big thing for children’s online gaming. This area has been dominated by Club Penguin for some time now but we also have Disney’s Toontown Online wanting a piece of the pie. Check out the official fansite, Toontown Central.
