The end to piracy
The last time I’d logged in to Pirates of the Burning Sea I’d bought a new ship and was producing new stock for the Auction House. I still had to sail from Tampa to New Orleans to manufacture my cannons and cannonballs but couldn’t be bothered so planned to do it another time. I still have no desire whatsoever to log in. My 30 days included game time expires on the 22nd so I had to decide whether to pay a month’s subscription and to keep playing or putting PotBS to bed. Well I’ve chosen the latter and cancelled my subscription.
It’s not that I think PotBS is a bad game at all, it’s just not engaging enough for me. It doesn’t leave me itching to log back in the way other games have. And there are too many times when I’m just staring at a screen and doing nothing. Sometimes I think that maybe I should have tried harder to like it. Maybe put in some more time and hit the level cap, gotten involved in the PvP aspects. Maybe I shouldn’t have made a freetrader as my first character. I tried rolling a privateer and a pirate alt but I tired of those aswell.
Oh well, I shall put my PotBS game box on top of my Tabula Rasa one. Fortunately I still have Vanguard to keep me happy until Age of Conan and Warhammer are released.

You are right, and after reading my post again I see why I didn’t like it. It didn’t leave me itching to log back in. While I enjoyed playing it, once I logged out I didn’t have that desire to log back in that I’ve had with games like DAoC, EQ2 or VG.

In my opinion you shouldn’t have to try to like a game, you should just like it. It’s the developers job to keep you interested and excited enough to keep playing, not yours.
