Which one of the big guns will be first
Age of Conan’s release date has been pushed back from 25 March to 20th May. For those people eager to try AoC like myself it’s a bit of a disappointment. But I’d rather see a polished game then one that’s rushed out to meet a deadline. Just take a look at what happened with Vanguard. And Warhammer Online has a release date of August now. Or rather “mid to late 2008”. I’d put my money on Warhammer being the next big thing but I have to wonder how release dates affect numbers. If AoC comes out first I’ll buy and play that. If I’m liking it, I won’t buy Warhammer, at least not until I’m sick of AoC. But if Warhammer comes out first then that’s the game I’ll buy. And developers must know this. And let’s not forget World of Warcraft’s third expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, is due out also.
If I had to look in my crystal ball I’d say AoC will make their May date. I think they have to in order to compete with WoW and WAR, with the other two titles slugging it out at Christmas.
